Researcher | Media Practice | Odgers Executive Search | London
About the Media Practice
Our Media and Entertainment team sits within our Global Sports, Media & Gaming practice and works with some of the most high-profile clients across their three sub-sectors. We are a global business, working collaboratively with colleagues across our offices worldwide. This is right at the heart of the UK's thriving Creative Industries, placing C-suite, CEOs and Boards in TV, film, music, advertising, social platforms, publishing and live – across different ownership structures, from private equity to listed, family office to public sector.
Our work covers a broad range of appointments from specific industry hires as well as C-level commercial, operational, and board Non-Executive Chair appointments. Almost all our assignments require research into international talent pools, and many require us to identify talent from other sectors.
Media continues to be a significant growth area, with the opportunity to work hand in glove both with global media teams across the Odgers business, from the US to India to Japan and beyond, as well as intersecting with your peers within the broader gaming, sports and igaming parts of the practice.
The Media business is led by Julie McKeen, who, before joining Odgers held management positions in advertising agencies, including running the European Unilever business for Lowe and serving as Group Marketing Director of TBWA UKI Group. Jules is a mentor and advisor for technology and media startups at the Techstars London accelerator programme. She sits on the National Committee for the Royal Television Society and is a contributor to a number of organisations, panels and publications in the media industry.
This role presents the chance for an outstanding researcher to work in a thriving practice, within an industry right at the heart of changes, technological and behavioural, which truly impact the UK culture and economy.
About the Opportunity
Our researchers are at the heart of everything we do at Odgers.
They play a pivotal role in identifying and attracting exceptional talent for senior-level positions, underpinning the success of every search assignment.
Through rigorous market research, they develop a deep understanding of industry trends, organisational structures, and key individuals. Their ability to absorb, analyse, and synthesise complex information enables them to build detailed candidate profiles that help our teams assess alignment with client needs.
Researchers support the search process by sourcing candidates across a wide range of platforms and networks, verifying credentials, and ensuring accuracy at every stage. Once the initial identification phase is complete, they engage directly with candidates and sources, often over the phone, to gather nuanced insights. The quality of these conversations is critical in forming a clear and accurate picture of each candidate’s suitability.
While prior Media sector experience isn’t required, a genuine interest and foundational understanding of its significance is essential.
This role is for someone with a minimum of 12 months of experience, either in a contingent recruitment firm or an executive search firm as a researcher.
At Odgers, we’re committed to investing in our people. If you're looking for a role that offers development, support, and opportunities for growth, we’d love to hear from you.
